Personal Values & Leadership Philosophy

As a candidate for Sheriff, I believe that leadership in law enforcement must begin with integrity, accountability, service, and respect. These values are the foundation of my commitment to this community and to every resident who calls it home.

I believe in leading by example—demonstrating honesty in action, fairness in judgment, and courage in the face of difficult decisions.  As sheriff, I will foster a culture where every deputy, officer, and civilian staff member is empowered to uphold the highest ethical standards, serve with compassion, and treat every individual with dignity, regardless of background.

My leadership philosophy is rooted in servant leadership, the idea that effective leadership means putting the needs of the people first.  That includes not only protecting the community from crime but also being present, approachable, and responsive to the concerns of citizens.  I believe in building trust through transparency, listening before acting, and making decisions that reflect both the law and the values of the people we serve.

I am also committed to collaborative leadership.  That means working in partnership with local agencies, community organizations, schools, and residents to create lasting solutions to the challenges we face—from drug abuse and mental health to youth violence and property crime.  I will prioritize training and professional development, ensuring that our deputies are equipped not just with tactical skills, but with the emotional intelligence and cultural understanding needed to serve a diverse community.

At the heart of my philosophy is the belief that public safety is not just the job of law enforcement, it is a shared responsibility and as sheriff, I will lead with openness, compassion, and a firm resolve to build a safer, stronger, and more united community.
