Serving with Integrity. Protecting with Honor.

Protecting Our Communities

As your next Sheriff, I am committed to ensuring every neighborhood is safe, secure, and served with integrity.  My platform is grounded in transparency, accountability, and modern, community-focused policing.

Crime Prevention & Enforcement

As your next Sheriff, I am committed to a smart, balanced approach to fighting crime, one that is tough on criminals, proactive in prevention, and rooted in partnerships with the community.

My priorities include:

  • Proactive Policing
We will strengthen patrols in high-crime areas, increase visibility, and use data-driven strategies to anticipate and prevent criminal activity before it occurs.
  • Swift & Fair Enforcement
Lawbreakers will be held accountable, no exceptions.  But accountability must always be guided by fairness, transparency, and respect for constitutional rights.
  • Targeting Violent Crime & Repeat Offenders
We will prioritize investigations and resources toward violent crimes, drug trafficking, and habitual offenders who pose the greatest threat to our neighborhoods.
  • Community Partnerships
Crime prevention starts with trust.  I will expand neighborhood watch programs, school safety initiatives, and partnerships with community leaders to keep lines of communication open and proactive.
  • Modern Tools & Training
Our deputies deserve the best training and technology.  I will invest in advanced crime-fighting tools, modern forensics, and de-escalation training to enhance both safety and professionalism.

Our community deserves to feel safe in every neighborhood.  As Sheriff, I will lead a department that is visible, responsive, and relentlessly focused on keeping our streets safe, today and for the long term.

Community Policing

Strong law enforcement starts with strong community relationships.  As your next Sheriff, I will make community policing the foundation of how we protect and serve.

Here’s my approach:

  • Build Trust, Block by Block
Deputies will be assigned to specific neighborhoods so they can build real, lasting relationships with residents. When people know their officers, they’re more likely to report crime, cooperate in investigations, and work together for safer streets.
  • Accessibility & Accountability
I will establish regular town halls, listening sessions, and open-door policies to ensure the public has a voice, and that our department is responsive and transparent.
  • Youth Engagement
We’ll expand programs in schools and youth centers to educate, mentor, and prevent crime before it starts.  Kids should see deputies as protectors and role models, not strangers.
  • Cultural Competency & Respect
Every member of our community deserves respect, no matter their background.  I will ensure all deputies receive training in cultural sensitivity, mental health response, and effective communication.
  • Partnership Over Policing Alone
Law enforcement is only part of the solution.  I will work hand-in-hand with faith leaders, non-profits, business owners, and educators to create real, lasting safety solutions.

Community policing isn’t about going soft, it’s about being smart.  When law enforcement and the community are on the same side, everyone is safer.

Drug Prevention & Mental Health

As Sheriff, I will lead with both strength and compassion in addressing the drug crisis and the growing need for mental health intervention in our communities.

My commitment includes:

  • Crack Down on Drug Trafficking
We will aggressively pursue drug dealers, traffickers, and those bringing dangerous substances like fentanyl into our neighborhoods.  There will be zero tolerance for those profiting from addiction and destruction.
  • Support Treatment Over Jail for Addicts
Addiction is a disease, not a moral failure.  For non-violent offenders struggling with substance abuse, I will support diversion programs, recovery services, and partnerships with local treatment providers as alternatives to incarceration.
  • Mental Health Crisis Response
Deputies are often the first to encounter individuals in mental health crisis.  I will implement specialized training and expand co-response teams with mental health professionals to ensure people in crisis get help, not handcuffs.
  • Reduce Repeat 911 Calls
Many calls for service involve the same individuals facing addiction, homelessness, or mental illness.  We’ll build systems to connect these individuals with long-term care and reduce the burden on patrol officers.
  • Community-Based Prevention Programs
I will work with schools, families, and nonprofits to provide education, prevention, and early intervention, especially for youth, so we stop addiction before it starts.

This is not about being soft on crime, it’s about being smart, humane, and effective.  The cycle of addiction and untreated mental illness doesn’t end in a jail cell.  It ends when we combine firm enforcement with real solutions.

Transparency & Accountability

Trust is earned, and as your Sheriff, I will never take that trust for granted.  I will lead a department that is open, honest, and accountable to the people it serves.

My plan for transparency and accountability includes:

  • Body-Worn Cameras for All Deputies
Body cameras protect both the public and our officers.  I will ensure full implementation and consistent use to provide an accurate record of interactions and promote fairness on all sides.
  • Clear, Public Complaint Process
Every resident deserves a voice.  I will create a user-friendly, transparent process for filing complaints or compliments, and ensure timely, impartial follow-up.
  • Internal Affairs That Work
Misconduct will not be ignored or covered up.  I will strengthen internal investigations and hold every member of the department, including leadership, accountable to the highest standards of conduct.
  • Public Reporting on Department Operations
Regular, public-facing reports on crime trends, use-of-force incidents, budget spending, and disciplinary actions will be published to keep the public informed and involved.
  • Leadership by Example
As Sheriff, I will set the tone from the top.  That means being visible, accessible, and responsive—not just during crises, but every day.

A safe community starts with a sheriff’s office the people can trust.  I will lead with integrity, enforce with fairness, and always answer to the people.

School Safety

While our school district has its own police department, the Sheriff's Office still plays a vital role in supporting safe learning environments across the community.  As your next Sheriff, I will ensure that we stand ready as a strong partner, not a competitor.

Here’s how we’ll support school safety:

  • Close Coordination with School Police
I will maintain an open line of communication with the school district police department, sharing intelligence, resources, and support during emergencies or major incidents.
  • Emergency Response & Backup
In a crisis, every second counts.  The Sheriff’s Office will be fully prepared to respond rapidly in support of school police, whether it’s a lockdown, threat assessment, or armed intruder situation.
  • Community-Wide Threat Monitoring
Many threats to schools originate outside campus boundaries.  Our investigators will work to identify risks in the broader community and alert school officials when necessary.
  • Youth Engagement & Prevention
I will expand county-wide youth outreach, mental health partnerships, and after-school programs that support student well-being and prevent crime before it happens.
  • Support for Safe Routes to School
We’ll work with schools, parents, and local agencies to improve traffic safety and patrols in school zones and along routes where students walk or ride buses.

My role as Sheriff is not to take over school safety, it’s to be a trusted ally in keeping our children safe, informed, and protected at all times.
